Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II

Postby Dreyesbo on Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:34 am

Decided to create a different thread for the second film.

Expectations, thoughts?

I've got tons of spoilers, but I can't quite remember all of them, they got mixed with Part I spoilers. If you want to know anything specific, though, I'll let you know if I've heard about it :)

Dude, if it's the same level of Part 1, I'll burn my DVDs except PoA and GoF, and keep them with my books.

And yeah, after they messed up Snape's memory in Movie 5, my hopes aren't high for these one. They've cast the right roles, but then again, they did so in Movie 5 and used them wrong.

And the battle better be long. They let me down on Order of the Phoenix, and they completely cut it on Half Blood Prince. If it's only 20 minutes long, I'll be mad as well.

There's been a couple of reports from a screening lately, and apparently the movie is good. Still got lots of spoilers, gonna post some of them here when I've got the time :D

But first: the movie is apparently 2 hours long, exactly. Shortest HP film to date, but if you count it with Part I, then it is a 4:30 hour film.

Only 2 hours? That's a shame. I want as much as I can get from this.

I fear my expectations are too high for this film. Because if it's not the best of all 8, then it won't have lived up to my expectations  Uh oh!

You won't notice it, apparently. Two hours with just the Gringotts scene (which lasts 30 minutes), and 1:30 for the complete battle seems great. I remember everyone saying they would be happy with a 40 minute battle, so this is a lot better.

I just hope they don't mess the final battle scene up completely.

Two hours does seem short...and I wasn't the biggest fan of part 1 (though I didn't like the first half of the book nearly as much as the second half either).

Hmmm, I don't think I'll watch. I feel like I've seen half of the ending just from the trailers ages ago for Part 1.

Yeah, there was a lot of part 2 footage in that trailer.
But, I always watch the HP trailer, so this time it wont be any different.

Looks pretty good actually, I'm quite pleasantly surprised by that. Looks like they've managed to pull off their big climactic battle scene a lot better than it was written in the book: "And then X was fighting Y, and A was fighting Z, and then Wizards 1 and 2 entered fighting Death Eater 1..." and on and on
