Both are two of my favorite movies, and I'm pretty sure Dark Knight fans outnumber Matrix fans on here, but I'll go with The Matrix. I think it has more rewatch value.

*edited for my idiotic spelling of "Knight"*

This one was harder than it appeared at first glance. Both had a VERY BIG impact on me. But I have to go with what my gut reaction when I took that first glance; I blurted out "Dark Knight" no hesitation.

the dark knight...

as good as the matrix was... i cannot forgive them for the sequels... "we are zion !!" jebus... O.o
You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don't
owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to
put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission,
don't even start asking for theirs.

I love both films but you have to look at it from all stand points.

Directing: Dark Knight just wins this one. Matrix is very anime in style but Dark Knight just is gritty.

Acting: Dark knight hands down, heath you rocked it

Story: Matrix is such a concept and nothing ever came out like it.

But it came down to this. If i could only choose to have one to watch for the rest of my life, the dark knight on blu ray would win.

So i have to go with Dark KNight

The Matrix gets my vote, eventhough I dont like it as much as I used to. The Dark Knight to me is very over-rated. I guess I dont really like rich boys who dress up and talk like the chick from The Exorcist.

   I always found Batman's voice weird but so far I couldn't tell what it reminded me of ...so thanks!
As for my vote: The Matrix for the concept (+ Keanu's voice is ok)

The Matrix is an awesome movie, and still the best in that trilogy. It really bended the way action films are made now. It was revolutionary and exceptional, and the little "Keanu bend" was pure --> :O

But seriously? The Dark Knight. I have yet to see a superhero movie handle dark themes and create such a conflicting city like Gotham so brilliantly. So much to point out. Heath Ledger's performance. The way it's directed. Superb supporting roles. It's everything you want in a good vs. evil showdown. One of the best films of the decade.

Star Wars IV-VI? :|

Return Of The Jedi is mediocre IMO. As is Alien 3, in case anyone suggests that, though I'm a big Fincher fan.

PS - although I don't think TDK is an action film in same way The Matrix so overtly was, this appears to be quite a good choice of a pairing - the votes are down to the wire.

Call me crazy and I'm pretty much going against type here, but I actually thought that TDK was pretty over-rated in general. :S Heath Ledger was terrific in his role as the Joker, but everything else seemed a bit blah to me in that film. I dunno...it was OK, but after all the hype, I was sorely disappointed when watching the movie.

I vote the Matrix. Tons of rewatchability, even now quite a few years later.
