MOVIE CUP SEMIS: Pulp Fiction vs. ReturnOfTheKing CLOSED

Postby Luhks on Sun Oct 04, 2009 5:12 pm

Congratulations to the two films voted The Ultimate Oscar Snub, Pulp Fiction, and The Ultimate Best Picture, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
*Pulp Fiction defeated The Sixth Sense, its 1994 counterpart The Shawshank Redemption, a Tarantino favorite Taxi Driver, and then edged out the original Star Wars.
*Peter Jackson's Return of the King was voted over The Godfather Part II, Braveheart, The Godfather, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Only one can advance to the Ultimate Movie Cup Finals.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Even though Pulp Fiction beat Star Wars, it runs circles around Bored of The Rings.

Pulp Fiction is a much better film, but competition against much better films hasn't stopped Return of the King from advancing so far.

Pulp Fiction I'm still trying to understand the purpose. Substance over violence. Return of the King for me.
