Everyone's personal top 10-25

Postby vader182 on Thu Feb 11, 2010 8:18 am

Simply, list your top films. Few guidelines.

1.) Only list one film per franchise. This simplifies things.

2.) Give it some thought ;)

3.) I realize this is really difficult for some people (I've put a lot of thought into this) so don't always worry about the exact order, just what films are definitely "up there"

4.) While you're at it, go ahead and list favorite film makers, actors, writers, etc.

I shall go first! After the first 3, they get interchanged a bit. My top 3 have been the same for many many many years, and will likely forever stay there.

1.) Star Wars 2.) Lord of the Rings 3.) Indian Jones 4.) Pirates of the Carrebean: Curse of the Black Pearl 5.) American Beauty 6.) Oldboy 7.) Avatar 10.) Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 11.) Wall-E 12.) Ratatouille 12.) Darjeeling Limited 13.) There Will Be Blood 14.) The Wrestler 15.) Hot Fuzz 16.) Children of Men 17.) Inglourious Basterds 18.) Minority Report 19.) Casino Royale 20.) Matrix (mostly the first two, though. 21.) The Prestige 22.) The Departed 23.) Finding Neverland 24.) Sunshine 25.) TDK

runner ups: Adaptation, The Machinist, Usual Suspects, Se7en, Akira, 28 Days Later ,Let the Right One In, In Bruges, Lost in Translation, Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner, and Alien. The list goes on and on.

Film Makers: My favorite current film makers is Christopher Nolan, along with Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, and Wes Anderson.

Actors: JOHNNY DEPP, Christian Bale, Philip Seymor Hoffman, Kevin Spacey, Bill Murray, &Leonardo DiCaprio is getting close to being up there as well.

In terms of writers, many of my favorites also direct, but I just need to give a shout out to Charlie Kaufman. He never fails to at the very least be innovative and fun. (Being John Malcovich, Eternal Sunshine, Synecdoche, New York, Adaptation, and I'm probably forgetting something.)

And I expect EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU! to be equally as in depth as I was :PP

I'm enjoying all of your responses, guys

Some of them have been really surprising... The love for Lynch is certainly something I didn't anticipate at all, glad to see some people that love his films as I'm a total Lynchphile!

27. What the heck is wrong with me?! Harry Potter Series should be up there too! :w00t: I think I could seriously list another 10 movies that truely love as much as the rest...like All of Studio Ghibli Films, and like Narnia, and Indiana Jones, Brigadoon, Casablanca, Elizabeth series, Sweeny Todd, V for Vandetta, Memoirs of a geisha, Crouching Tiger, house of flying dragons, kate and leopald, the mask of zorro, the man in the iron mask, the lady vanishes, ...Ok I will stop now.

I like things that are stylistic, thought provoking, wimsical, or extreamly emotional.

I think it would be easier to have asked what I hated.

Yet for all their evolution, they form no bonds.
Love does not exist for them. They are incapable of dreaming,
Of contemplating beauty, Of knowing something greater than themselves.
