I really enjoyed it even though I have never seen a single episode on TV.
Anton Yelchin was great as Pavel Chekov. lovely accent

Anyone know what kirk said to spock before beaming to Nero's ship and after Uhura snuggled up with Spock to say goodbyes?

It was something like "so her name is..?"

And he says something like "Im not at liberty to divulge that" or something spock-sounding :P

Saw it over the weekend, and think its great. Star Trek has been re-booted and they can now build new storylines without worrying about existing material.

I would hope this would excite Star Trek fans, since now there will be more new movies and potentially a new series starting up. I think what Star Trek has done in the past is great (most of the movies anyways), but its always nice to see a new spin on things.

Simply put I loved it. JJ Abrams never fails for me. Very interesting twist that makes Star Trek his own. You know what I don't mind these changes either that is just fine. JJ Abrams has made it his own and can hopefully still keep diehard Trek fans like myself. I loved the comedy in it especially so darn funny in many parts. My favorite scene in the movie is probably the Kobiyashi Meru scene just great!!!!!

The casting was spot on and amazing. Seriously Chris Pine just might be my new favorite actor what an excellent choice!!!!! For a guy I knew nothing about he totally amazed me. Zoe was smoking as Uhura!!!! Quinto is perfect like I suspected he would be. Pine and Quinto work very well together too. Perhaps my favorite though may be Karl Urban he pulled of an excellent Dr. McCoy. Before he even comes on screen and you here him in the background you know it is immediately Bones.

Good job JJ you might tick of a few diehard Trekkie fans, but you know what you made it your own while staying somewhat true to the original. Can't wait for the many sequels hopefully to come.

yesss

I don't know don't get me wrong I love Richard Alpert, but I don't know if I can see him as Kahn. It would be tough to live up to Ricardo Montalban. I also don't know if I really want to see Kahn re made. I would rather see something new. However whatever JJ does I won't complain too much simple put nothing absolutely nothing he has ever done has disappointed me.

DVD? Hell, I'll get a Blu-ray player for this one.

The Kobayashi Maru scene was Kirk's test; the one he cheated in.

Sorry to interrupt any discussion on this right now, but I've never seen any episodes of the original series. Well, bits and pieces, but not really any full episodes. If I was never really watching those and was never a big fan, would I probably like this? Because I'm going to the movies tomorrow and it's either this or Drag Me to Hell. I want to see this, but I'm not sure if I'll like it.

I'd never seen a single episode.

The closest I was to Star Trek was "Galaxy Quest".

And I loved Star Trek :D
