Hans Zimmer Teams up with Rodrigo y Gabriela "On Stranger Tides" Score:

"We'd always felt it a creative necessity that the 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' score have an original sound all its own and to distinguish itself from the first three films. With the inspiring addition of Rodrigo y Gabriela's unique artistry under the direction of maestro Hans 'Long John' Zimmer, this iconic score franchise take its next step forward with an imaginative, fresh and individual new sound," says Mitchell Leib, President of Music and Soundtracks for the Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Group and Disney Music Group.

Personally this doesn't make me real happy. It's not that I don't think new melodies shouldn't be added, but the key word is "added". If doesn't have any of those original riffs, it's not gonna be POTC anymore. I am hopeful that it is just that there are new elements, with some new sounds, as each Pirates had it's own uniqueness, but you culd always here that it all went together, but IMO this article sounds like they just redid the whole thing and that's disapponting, like Disney is ashamed of the bizzillions of dollers they made from the first trilogy.

i dunno darth...Rodrigo y Gabriela are awesome...
You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don't
owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to
put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission,
don't even start asking for theirs.

I am not disputing the talent or what could be added. I just think a drastic change to the score doesn't bode well, because it's like Disney is saying, the other story didn't happen. Their putting too much emphises on turning these next films into a 'redo', instead of just allowing it to be a continuation with new characters, new stories, as if Jack or Barbossa was never effected by what has happened, where clearly I think they have been, because that is how either of them got 'here'.

They have new marketing manager and it seems they believe that telling people 'we're starting over--it's like the first one' is going to get more people to go to the movies, then just going, here is a new phase.

I won't judge till I here it, but I really hope the general Jack Sparrow themes are still apart of it.

To me it's just sad because I like all 3 and thought it was starting to get more story telling-ish, character driven, mythologically explored, catering to slightly above average intelligence audience, but now it seems they sunk back down into: just making a fun movie-with little of that other stuff, because most people don't want to think, and we want want to make money so, here we go.

I can only hope that this mirrors the other trilogy in some way. That POTC 5 will be a little more involving like DMC was and that this is there way to just suck some people in.

More Pirate Films on the Horizon:
The original three "Pirates" blockbusters ended up as a trilogy continuing the same key characters and story line. Bruckheimer says "On Stranger Tides" and future "Pirates" flicks will be stand-alone stories continuing the adventures of Depp's woozy buccaneer Capt. Jack Sparrow.

I am disappointed with this. I think the franchise will fail if they don't attempt with some continuity and character development. It will become too one in that same. I know there are a lot of fans that like the first one, because they didn't have to think much, but I think that's just sad reason to not like the other two. It had all of this potentensual to be something a little meaningful, but it's going to get swept away because people want to digress in film content.

3 Scenes Shown at CinemaCon - Article Gives Run Down:

Jack is dragged into a room by soldiers and is shackled to a chair in front of a table which has a bunch of food with a plate full of creme puffs on it. He tries to get one and kicks the table, but the creme puff flies into the air and gets stuck on a chandelier above him. At the same time, King George II and several men who are dressed in regal uniforms enter the room.

Jack denies his true identity in front of the king at first before he finally admits that he is indeed Jack Sparrow. They talk about the Fountain of Youth, but Jack is making so much noise motioning with his hands still in chains so the king demands that he be unshackled to stop all that noise.

The king says he has a ship and a captain ready for the voyage and it turns out that the man who arranges it is Captain Hector Barbossa. Jack asks Barbossa what happened to the Black Pearl and he's told that he lost it at the same time he lost his leg. Jack then jumps over the table to get at his old arch-nemesis.

In the second clip, Jack is on Blackbeard's ship, the Queen Anne's Revenge. On the deck, Jack talks about staging a mutiny on Blackbeard. Jack tells the crew they will surely die in Blackbeard's quest to find the fountain. As they all stream out, Jack sees Angelica sleeping so he lies down next to her, and she groggily says that if she's dreaming he would keep the sword and the boots on, so he says, "You're dreaming." Angelica angrily kicks him out.

Jack then heads onto deck where a huge sword fight is happening between Jack's men and creepy undead pirates who can't be killed and Jack heads to Blackbeard's quarters to throw the mutiny. When Blackbeard comes out, he motions with his sword and the rigging starts to come to life and grabs all of Jack's men, leaving Jack himself hanging upside down in front of Blackbeard. Jack says, "I want to report a mutiny."

The other is set in an island where Jack makes his way through the jungle before he arrives at a sharp cliff and makes a joke about it not being the right way. Blackbeard, Angelica and others follow behind him and Blackbeard asks someone to jump into the water below and get to the other side. He proposes Jack's name for the task, but Angelica insists she can do it. Blackbeard tells his daughter that if she wants to die, he will just shoot her himself. As Jack seemingly surprises at that statement, Blackbeard takes the challenge involving several empty and filled pistols. Jack picks one which Blackbeard points to Angelica.

After the game is played out, they are back to Jack being the one who will jump, so Jack asks a man who looks like a zombie whether he would survive jumping off the cliff. The man throws a voodoo doll that looks like Jack over the side as Jack screams. When he is told he would indeed survive, Jack jumps over the cliff himself.
