Season 5 Spoiler Index

Postby Hunter on Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:37 am

Since spoilermongers are now considered unclean on Lostpedia, I've decided to revive the highly succesfull overview spoiler pages on this forum. It's a more appropiate place anyway, since the main source has always been DarkUFO.

This page contains a summary of season 5 spoilers. I only want to present the facts given, so I'll leave out any theories, speculation and rumors. The date and source is mentioned for each spoiler, linking to the original source or to the appropiate posting on DarkUFO’s main page. If spoilers repeat or expand upon earlier information, the more reputable or more complete sources are preferred. Moderators are welcome to ad to my posts, if I'm not available to ad new info.

Note: All of the casting info that is circulated is based on extreme generalities, or in some cases, out and out deceptions by the producers. Filming does not always take place in a chronological order.

Theme
Spoiler (Click to reveal/hide)
2.25.08, New York Post, Damon Lindelof: "Season 5 is about why [the people in the outside world] need to get back [to the Island]."
4.24.08, Doc Jensen The Season 4 finale has been written as a pilot for Season 5.
7.17.08, ABC Live Press Tour, the producers: Cuse says “The people that are off the island, the island seems to be drawing them back and Ben makes it clear they need to go back to the island. Hopefully that’s a lot of what you’ll see of in Season 5 -- the journey how those six return to the island.” Adds Lindelof: "You have to break your characters up to create conflict... but you can't play that too long because the audience will get frustrated....
9.09.08. TV Guide, Carlton Cuse: The overiding question will be where did the island go and when did the island go.

Structure
Spoiler (Click to reveal/hide)
4.11.08, E.W.com, Damon Lindelof: The show will break her usual template of flashbacks and flashforwards
4.22.08, Honolulu Star Bulletin, the producers: "It's entirely possible that the notion of what's the past and what is the present and what is the future could change."
7.27.08, Comic Con 2008, the producers: We're done with flashbacks and flashforwards, but there will be some time-jumping excitement anyway. There will be storytelling on and off the island, and in different periods of time.
7.29.08, Comic Con 2008, the producers:"We have something new this year. We're going to mix it up. When season five starts, you won't know when or where you are. And the way we tell stories will be different too."

Episodes

Complete Episode guide, HERE BE SPOILERS
Episode Guide

Episode 5.01 (shooting 8/18 - 8/30)
Spoiler (Click to reveal/hide)
6.20.08, Latino Review, Nestor Carbonell:"I'm working on 'Lost' so I will be returning to that in August."

8.07.08, Casting calls, Michael Aussiello:
Casear, a dangerous, physical and extremely intelligent male between the ages of 35 and 45. Although his intentions are unclear, this much is certain: he's as skillful at charming people as he is at killing them. He also has a dark past.

Ilanna, a European female in her late 20s to early 30s who possesses great intelligence, but who's also dangerous as all get out. She's alluring and apparently used to getting her own way.

8.12.08. EW, Doc Jensen: The season opening title is confirmed as Because You Left

8.18.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report
- One set of filming was taking in Kate's post-island home in Kahala
- A doctor and a blond toddler were seen
- A scene requiring Spanish speakers was being shot elsewhere.

8.20.08, Casting calls, DocArzt:
Foreman
40s to 50s, any ethnicity. A blue-collar construction worker. He's worked hard to get where he is and provide for his family. He cares deeply for his crew, hates it when management is condescending and arrogant but ultimately knows his place in the pecking order. Co-star

Martha
35 to 40, Asian, attractive. A smart, capable scientist with a strong personality who has taken a break to raise her baby but plans to work again. Completely believes in the work she is doing but sometimes questions the decisions of those in charge...Co-star, recurring

Dan
40s, any ethnicity. A high-priced attorney, someone really sharp who can be friendly. However, there's a real menace lurking below the surface. Recurring Guest Star

8.23.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report
Hurley and Sayid drive into the apartment complex parking lot in a late-model blue SUV. (It and the other cars have California plates.) They exit, Sayid looking sharp in a black shirt and dark khaki pants, Hurley wearing a thick, long, grey bathrobe over a blue T-shirt. Hurley’s also holding a big burger and paper cup. They make their way stealthily up the stairs, and walk the length of the building, past several apartments.

Finally they reach the apartment they’re looking for. They confer for a moment. Sayid seems to reach for the top of the door, looking for a key, perhaps, when something startles them. Sayid pushes Hurley aside, and draws his gun, pointing it at the door. It opens, and there’s a struggle inside. The next moment, Sayid throws a man over the railing to the asphalt four stories below. There’s a second man inside. Shots ring out. Hurley emerges from the apartment, gun in his hand, and looks over the railing in disbelief.

9.03.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report: Spectators saw Sawyer, Bernard, Rose, and Juliet having a conversation in the jungle. Second scene had Charlotte and Miles, going back to camp.

9.09.08. TV Guide, Carlton Cuse: Off the Island, an unlikely alliance will develop. "We're working on a story where Sayid, now an assassin working for Ben, and Hurley buddey up.

9.22.08. Zap2It, Jorge Garcia: It starts right where we left off. Hurley is right where Sayid picked him up in the mental institution. We see what happens to the island in that first episode and it's pretty insane.

Episode 5.02 (shooting 8/28 - 9/12)
Spoiler (Click to reveal/hide)
8.15.08, DarkUfo, SecretAgentMan: casting calls:

Nigel is British, in his late teens. Smart and mature for his age, if a little rough around the edges.

Sophie is a British aristocrat in her late teens and appears quite innocent and a little prim, but underneath she is formidable.

8.22.08, DarkUfo, Britt: casting calls:

Darlene
Early 20s, any ethnicity. A bored clerk who hates her sucky job and looks for any burst of excitement to get through the shift. Alternative in dress and style, plays guitar in her own band but needs the day job to pay the bills...Co-Star.

Jill
Late 20s to late 30s; any ethnicity. A butcher who is one hard-as-nails cool chick. A tomboy, bit of a searcher, and highly competent beyond her station in life...Co-Star. Discuss

8.25.08, EW:
Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia Cortez) is back for one episode, most likely this season's second.
Cheech Marin (David Reyes) is also on the guest list for episode two

8.29.08, Doc Arzt: Casting call:
Cunningham
Mid-20s to Early 30s. Any ethnicity. Athletic, used to living outdoors and off the land. He is a loyal soldier but willing to compromise with the enemy to protect his men...Very nice co-star.

8.29.08, Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa:
"LOST" set up shop at a luxurious $4 million, five-bedroom home in Kahala. This set hasn't been used before. Hurley was on scene.

9.03.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report: In Waikiki, workers were setting up for a shoot in a parking garage at King Kalakaua Plaza. Nearby stood Jack Shephard’s old Ford Bronco. It's not the same set that has been used at the end of season 3.

9.07.08. The Transmission, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report:
- Locke and Marvin Candle were seen together at the jungle set.
- Construction work was taking place in front of the camera
- There are reports of the filming of an Accident/Incident
- Jack was filming a hospital scene in Kahuku
- an Asian baby was cast

9.09.08. DarkUFO, I am Joe King
9.09.08. Lostpedia, Dezfola: Set Report:
In Kaimuki, they were filming at the corner of 9th and Waialae Avenue. It is an accident scene where Hurley (stunt double was driving) speeds down the street and knocks over some boxes on the sidewalk before driving off. He's being chased by someone you'll never guess..... Ana-Lucia in a Police car.
The scene was set in LA. Hurley had blood on him, and Sayid was also on the set. There was a black man in a business suit with a suit case as well...

9.09.08. DarkUFO, Topher: Set Report:
A beachscene featured Sawyer, Juliet, Charlotte, Miles, AND Faraday. The raft was on the beach. It seemed that Faraday was telling them something.

9.10.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report:
A gas station was renamed “Smith Stop and Run,” and the price of regular unleaded was set to $3.22 a gallon (= May 2007). On the scene were Sayid (looking badass in black) and Hurley (in non-threatening pastel yellow). The pair flee — Sayid looking tired or injured in the passenger seat — just as a silver Mercedes pulls in. It’s Kate, stylish as ever in a maroon, floral print top. Behind her, a very young blond boy in a car seat.

10.10.08. DarkUFO, Ken: Set Report:
At Camp Erdman, a Dharma Initiative film was shot with Francois Chau.

Episode 5.03 (shooting 9/15 - 9/26)
Spoiler (Click to reveal/hide)
8.15.08, DarkUfo, SecretAgentMan: Nigel and Sophie will also appear in the third episode.

8.29.08, Doc Arzt: Casting call:
Cunningham will have three scenes in episode 3.

9.05.08, DocArzt, Casting Notice:
Theresa
Female, 30s, British, blonde. Pretty suffers from dementia but also has short periods of complete lucidity...One day guest star, could possibly recur

Abigail
Theresa's nurse. Female, 30s, British; working class. Stoic - but deeply wounded. Has a way with bitter sarcasm, though she's a loyal caregiver at heart...One day guest star

Janitor
Male, late 40s or 50s, must have a British working class accent. Nosy, opinionated, resident rumor monger of a school. Knows everyone's business and can't keep a secret to save his life...Nice co-star

Solanga
Male, 50s, Filipino. The village doctor in a small, rural community. Has his vices but also genuine medical skills. Speaks relatively good English with an accent...Co-star

8.29.08, Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa:
The production crew set up up near Waimea Falls. Time and place suggested a night shoot among the thick trees and brush. An intriguing prop was the overturned fuselage of a small Cessna-sized plane.

9.02.08, DarkUFO: Set Report:
Spectators watched as Locke and Richard Alpert ran from armed men. The scene they filmed previously was the set up to the shooting and chase. It involved Locke and Alpert running across the island to the rock formation with a square hole in it from a season 2. Alpert retrieves some sort of device and uses this device along with the rock formation to discover what year it is.

Another spectator saw Locke in a big banyan tree. It looked like he was trying to climb the tree. Than he gets shot in his upper thigh.

9.12.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Ozawa: Set Report:
Desmond races into the heart of a bustling marketplace. He is out of breath, sweaty, wearing an unbuttoned maroon paisley shirt rolled up to his elbows, light khaki pants, and blue canvas shoes. He is clutching a piece of paper, reading it, then scanning the crowd frantically. He called out the name of Solanga, over and over, stopping and saying it to perplexed faces.

9.17.08. DarkUFO, AlaskaDave: Set Report:
A set was dressed as Simon's Butcher Shop. Including meat and sausages hanging in the windows.

9.17.08. DarkUFO, John: Set Report:
Lost was filming all week in the Ka'a'awa Valley. There is a large "army camp" set, a huge new tower which looks like an oil rig only in wood - maybe a well. Locke and Sawyer were seen for sure. Others spotted Juliet and reports were Hurley was on the set which makes no sense!
9.17.08. DarkUFO, Dee: Set Report:
Desmond and Solanga run over a pier. They jump on a boat. Desmond screams: "Penny, we're here!".

9.24.08. DarkUFO, Kronos:
1) For this episode there are no main flashbacks or flashforwards, and it is very linear like a normal television episode.
2) Desmond and Penny have been flying under the radar for awhile and they're having a kid.
3) They move around every few months and in this episode they are in a city named Mati (in the province of Davao Oriental, Philippines)
4) Ben is hot on their trail.
5) Ben Tortures someone from the Widmore Group
6) We find out that there are a handful of Dharma stations located throughout the world. They are not just on the island.

[http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/09/filming-update-from-ryan.html]9.24.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Oazwa: Set reports:
Jack's Ford Bronco is parked on one side of a street, and Kate's silver Volvo on the other side. Jack gets out of his truck and crosses the street to Kate, sitting in her car. He kneels at her window, and they have a long conversation. Suddenly, Jack rises to his feet, and after a few more words, darts around the front of her car and jumps in the passenger seat. The pair then speed away.

They took over the Pacific Marina Inn off Lagoon Drive, right in the flight path of Honolulu International Airport. It was a rainy morning, but they brought their rain trucks anyway, allowing them to conjure a downpour on cue. It was another Jack and Kate scene.

They filmed at the Honolulu Brewing and Malting Company building, a distinctive, historic red brick building. Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) was on the set.

[http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/09/filming-update-from-ryan.html]9.27.08. Hawaii Blog, Ryan Oazwa: Set report:
LOST" converted the public pool at Kaneohe District Park into a dark, angry ocean. In a canoe, paddling frantically, were Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Daniel, Charlotte, and at the head of the crew, Locke. Manufactured rain poured down, and crewmembers made waves and rocked the boat, large overhead lights creating lightning, large orange fans creating wind. Sawyer seemed to yell for them to go back, but someone sees or hears something and they begin paddling in earnest towards it, trying to avoid capsizing and shielding their eyes from the flashes.
