Which Series of Books is Best?

Postby Gus TT Showbiz on Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:26 am

Which of these series do you like the best? I personally used like Harry Potter, but I just finished the Dark Tower series by Stephen kind and like them better. The best imho is The Drawing of The Three. :D

Dammit! I can't answer this because they all appeal to different aspects of my personality.

I was a Narnia geek from way back in elementary school. I read the entire series at least once per year up until I was about a freshman in high school. It is an all time favorite for most of my life.

The Lord of the Rings is just such an epic story that has some dark, mythy themes that I totally get into.

And Harry Potter was my accidental find that took up many more hours in my brain trying to guess what was going to happen. I was right about the final horcrux and how it would end with Harry and Voldy.

I've not yet read Dark Tower but plan to in the next 2 years. I have a LONG booklist already and added it a while ago.
How many times do I have to tell you John, I always have a plan!

I voted Potter, as if it wasn't for it, I would've never read any others. SS was the first real book I read in my life, and the one who made me like reading.

I chose "other," because I couldn't decide between LOTR and Harry Potter. I'm a huge, huge, HUGE fangirl of both, and love them each for different reasons. In general, LOTR edges out HP because my worship of Middle Earth and its people knows no bounds -- but when it comes to the books, themselves, HP is actually an easier, more enjoyable read. So, it's a toss-up.

I'm reading the Chronicles of Narnia right now, by the way.

I couldn't read the Narnia books, the style of the writing hurt my head. :(

Yeah, the style is different. I liked the series, but not loved it as others.

My vote is for "other". Both Harry Potter and LOTR are both very good series but as far as epic story telling with twists, turns, sex, violence and such I'd have to go with Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series. hes is such a brilliant writer and paints such a vivid picture of the battles and characters. He incorporates a little of JRRT,King and Lewis into the story which makes it all the more fascinating.
