I just started 6 again last night.

5 I wasn't overly keen on the first time I read it, but I loved it more in subsequent reads

I loved 5! Yes, I hate Umbridge, but she is meant to be hated, so basically I loved to hate her. Why didn't you guys like Order of the Phoenix?

I just hated her, tbh.

I just didn't like the Dumbledore-splitting-himself-from-Harry plot.

My initial problem with OOTP is that very little actually happens in the first 500 pages of the book - the main action is in the final 200 pages.

But yeah, that's what I thought when I first read it. I love it now.

I'm reading HP6 atm it's just just SO... DAMN... GOOD!!

Book 5...is my favorite, in some way. The break between book 5 and book 6 was veeery long, so I re-read it many times. I learned to love the pace, which as you said, paid off in the awesome climax.

And yes, book 6 is the perfect example on something: you don't need action to be entertaining. Learning about what makes Voldemort tick, while the world is at war, and then everyone trying to keep on normal at school...it's a really great book.

I'm already well over 100 pages into HBP, which considering how much I read when at Uni, is astounding. JK is just a genius story teller.

People can complain about her writing style, but I have no issue with it at all.

I think HBP is the best of the series.

Not read them all, and I am not totally in love with them or anything.
However, I do enjoy them and they are so much better than the movies.

I liked books 1 - 4, I found order of the phoenix and half blood prince too long and quite boring but I loved book 7, particularly the battle at the end. I've reread the books several times but I've only read book 7 once, it's felt like a once in a lifetime thing

I'm reading HBP and it makes me feel sorry for people who only see the films - there's so many more layers, so much depth, such brilliant writing that people who don't read the books really are missing out on such a treat.
