Gimp/Gimpshop

Help!!!

Is anyone else out there using either Gimp or Gimpshop. I have recently started using Gimpshop but I figured if you know Gimp you might be able to help me. Here's my dilema, and any advice you can offer would be gratefully received!

Whenever I load the programme and try to open a new blank background everything will suddenly crash leaving me to be told that Gimp has stopped working and must close immediately. I have tried only opening the programme with nothing else running, restarted my computer multiple times, completely uninstalled Gimpshop and started again but always to no avail. If I open an image to use as the base/background the programme seems to be happy, but sometimes you need to start with a blank canvas, or alter the size of your canvas.

Can anyone save me from this nightmare??

I've never had that problem before, so I'm not sure what might be the cause or how you might be able to fix it, but have you tried reading the documentation for GIMP? There is some here. http://docs.gimp.org/ If you can't find any info on the error there, maybe just try googleing it somehow?

Sorry I couldn't be too big of a help..

I never used GimpShop, but since it is a modification of Gimp, there might be problems.

I would recommend un-installing and re-installing.

Or, try to update the program version.

A mod that makes the photo-editor Gimp, look and feel more like Adobe Photoshop.

Thanks for the ideas and advice with regards to my Gimpshop problem. Slightly worrying however that no-one else has encountered the same problem! I don't think it can be a freak issue given I have now uninstalled and reinstalled the programme 3times. I have therefore decided to cut my loses and have downloaded Gimp instead, wish me luck.

I would therefore like to open this thread up to offering/swapping advice and ideas regarding Gimp or Gimpshop. Feel free to start sharing x
