Try working through a few tutorials, there are loads and loads on the web.

Also, don't be afraid to try things out. That's how I learned -- by trying everything to see what they did. :D

As Bella said, just try everything. I've just started learning how to use Photoshop at school in my photography lessons, it's an awesome program - very in depth.

Yeah, as Bella said, just test everything out, if ya mess up who cares. I have found that is the best way to learn the program. Tutorials don't really help me at all :(.

Good luck, :D

No way you can learn how to master PS by testing it out....It took me years with lessons, books etc...

I think you can definitely master it by just playing around with it. I've never had any lessons or anything, and I got the hang of it in about a week. :)

I learnt it from scratch to a professional standard in 6 months without any books, tutorials, or the like - it's just like any other software package, the more you use it, the quicker you get. Also, artistic ability is by no means a requirement to become proficient (thank goodness). :) It took my 6 hours to do my first piece of paid work (which was also the first time I'd used the software at all!) - nowadays (7 years on) I reckon the same piece of work would take me 20 minutes.

Anyway, my offer still stands to anyone struggling - happy to help through PM's (though I draw the line (pardon the pun) at actually doing the work myself :)).

Sure! I don't have any work to hand from when I started out - old hard drives stashed in cupboards! But I've got some more recent work to hand. Most of my work is quite corporate and technical... hey, it pays the bills. :P

I've blacked out some company names etc and lorem ipsum'ed... don't particularly want to get sacked, and I've obviously shrunk them...

Here are a couple of print ads for magazines:

Here are a couple of exhibition boards, they're generally about 5m x 2.5m when printed... so pretty large!
