Summer transfer period...

Postby Sawyer5665 on Mon May 16, 2011 11:54 pm

I read an article a little bit ago about Tottenham...My favorite club...Anyway, the first line of the article was:

"Harry Redknapp is hoping to sign a striker to spearhead Tottenham Hotspur's push for a Champions League place next season."

Who should they go after?

Who else to do you guys think will make big moves this summer?

They'll more than likely be linked with Diego Forlan again, like they have the last 2 or 3 transfer windows. He'd be a great buy, something Redknapp specialises in, but I doubt they'd get him to be honest.

Personally, I think Tottenham should go for someone like Mata from Valencia, or Llorente from Bilbao. I think they'd fint in well with the way Tottenham play :D

Obviously Man City will be buying players left, right and centre :P I think a left-back is in order for them as Kolarov isn't exactly world-class. They've been linked with Ibrahimovic  Hope he doesn't come

To hell with Manchester City....

I would love to see Furlan at Tottenham. I love Spurs' defense and midfield play...I just wish they would get a top flight striker to put the fear of God in the backline of every team in the league. :D I wanna see fewer 0-0s and 1-0s and more 3-0s and 4-1s.

On a side note....I have money set aside for a trip, and I want to take a trip to London to see Tottenham play one of the big boys...Man. U, Chelsea, Man. City, Arsenal, or Liverpool. If I could have it completely my way, I'd see Spurs and Man. City..but we'll see. I'll have to wait to see next season's schedule.

There are rumours that Chelsea wants van der Vaart en Bale. Man U is going after Sneijder and they used to want Stekelenburg, but now they are backing of to go after a very young goalkeeper. Well, if I was them I would go for the more experienced goalie who played a bloody brilliant World Cup.

Man Utd should never have let Ben Foster go in my opinion! He is easily one of the best in re league. Thu already signed a younger keep in January, but I'm sure they'll go for someone else (as ling as it not Kieran Westwood, I'm happy :P )

Sneijder would be an awesome buy!
I think Man Utd could also do with a central midfielder.

Obviously the same issue will arise with arsenal... They need a keeper, and someone to play with Van Persie. U rate Schezney? high, but not a top 4 keeper just yet.

Harry Redknapp has already pulled off the transfer coup of the summer, sources have told ESPNsoccernet, by snatching Barcelona youngster Cristian Ceballos from under the noses of Chelsea.

Ceballos, 16, was hailed as Barcelona's new superstar four years ago when he became an internet sensation, featuring in a video juggling a ball with Ronaldinho.

However, after a falling out, Barca agreed to release Ceballos, an attacking midfielder, on a free transfer and he was taken to Chelsea for a two week trial.

Ceballos trained at Cobham predominately with Chelsea's youth side, but also trained with Carlo Ancelotti's first-team. In a shock move, he has now reportedly signed a three-year contract at White Hart Lane.

Sources close to the player said: "The boy captained Barca's Under-17's and here we have a proper player, potentially one of the greats if he develops as people think he might.

"He went to Chelsea for two weeks and trained for three days with the first-team before a Champions League game such was the impression he made, but for some strange reason no one seemed to make a decision about him.

"Now, he has signed a three-year contract with Spurs and Harry Redknapp has a player who will be in his first-team within a year."

Sounds good

On another note:
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed the club are closing in on the signature of Atletico Madrid keeper David de Gea.

United are in the market for a keeper to succeed Edwin Van der Sar, who retires at the end of this season.

"We've been working on it [the deal] for quite a while," said Ferguson after Gary Neville's testimonial on Tuesday.

"He is young, very quick, good composure, presence and an outstanding replacement for Van der Sar."

De Gea made 45 appearances for Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid this season, keeping an impressive 24 clean sheets as his club finished seventh in La Liga.

Last season, he helped Atletico win the Europa League courtesy of a 2-1 win over Fulham after extra time.

More to follow.

He's an awesome keeper to be fair. Good signing if it goes through!

No one can replace Van der Sar :(
Although, Stekelenburg is doing a very good job at the dutch squad and we are very happy with him.
