Man Utd 1 - 3 Barcelona

I've taken a lot of stick recently, for wanting Barca to win :( Apparently I'm a traitor  but I don't care.

I want Barca to win as well. I've never understood the "you have to support your own countries team" arguement. I spend the whole season hating Man Utd. I'm not about to start supporting them now.

I prefer Barca's style of Football.

aye well, youse can all go to hell... :D

in all seriousness, we have id say maybe a 30% chance of winning...barca are a great team, no doubt, but...but...i think we can hurt them...if anything i think we are a better "team" than in 09...no ronaldo, but a better team...give me tony v any day of the week...

van der sar

fabio - ferdinand - vidic - evra

valencia - carrick - giggs - park

rooney - hernandez

maybe just maybe, we could do it...

thats the hateful scenario i find myself in, its not the despair that gets you, its the hope...

I want Man United to win, I dont like Barca.
Mostly I want Edwin van der Sar to end his carreer with a big price :D
But I wont be ably to see the final(just like last year). I always seem to make plans when they play the final. Maybe it time to play the final on wednesday in the future.

i like the way barca play, but i dont like all the "more than a club" self righteousness about them...they & madris are killing the spanish league imho...the way they split the tv rights is not on at all...but of course feck all will be done about that...

so yeah dutchie, i agree 1000% let vds get a proper send off...god knows barca are going to be in the final for the next 5 odd years...

Comfortable 2-0 victory for Barcelona - Messi and Iniesta.

Messi said today that he really rates Hernandez, and a player LIKE him could fit in at Barcelona, and that he is sure the club are looking for a SIMILAR player... now all these English football fans are saying how 'arrogant' Messi is, and he thinks his club are entitled to anyone the feel like... I personally didn't see that, but cool.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. Messi is recruiting, and why shouldn't he? If he can influence a player to come to his team that could improve the club....why not?

Respect for the opposing club wouldn't go amiss ;)

What he said is considered disrespectful?? It sounded to me like he was showing respect saying that Hernandez was a good player and that Barca could use a similar player.

Yehp, with Fabregas, players like Puyol where coming out and saying that he has Barcelona blood and is waisting his time at Arsenal/will be at Barcelona within 2 years, etc etc - that is disrespectful!
But in this case all that has been said (bear in mind, Messi has been asked certain questions, he hasn't just came out and said it) - he's saying he hopes Guardiola is looking at a similar styled player for next season?
The most disrespectful thing I have seen in the build up is Rio Ferdinand (whom I like) saying Barca wouldn't have stood a chance against Man U in 2009 if Man U weren't off form, he usually shows a but more class than that - still I think the guys pretty awesome on twitter.

That is definitely disrespectful. I would LOVE to see Fabregas leave Arsenal speaking as a Tottenham fan, but that is going overboard a bit in my opinion.

On a different note...

One thing that I've noticed in the past couple of years since I've started watching club soccer (EPL, La LIga, Serie A, etc.) is the way that the managers speak their minds about the players without worrying about the player getting upset about it. It's a lot different here in the United States in the NFL, NBA, and MLB. It's weird...Here, if a player is playing poorly or whatever, the manager just doesn't come out and say something like, "This player is playing lousy and needs to make an attitude adjustment." or something like that. They seem to beat around the bush and go out of their way to be nice and not get the players upset. The English Premier League is totally different. It's no big deal for a manager like Alex Furgeson, Harry Redknapp, or Roberto Mancini to come out in the papers and call a player out for having a bad attitude or playing badly. I think it's awesome and would like to see more of it in other sports.
