In an interview Matt Smith claimed a baddie would be returning next season could this be it?

Omega was rumored to appear in the finale of Series 5 and is rumored to be the External force who was responsible for the "explosion" of the Tardis and the silence and the voice saying "Silence Will Fall". (The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang), but the main antagonist was not revealed.

Omega does not appear in the finale, however the source behind the Time Fields will be revealed in Series 6.

And below is some writing news;

Neil Gaiman
WENN
Neil Gaiman has discussed writing for the next series of Doctor Who on Twitter.

Going under the pseudonym 'neilhimself', the writer revealed that his episode will air third in the run.

He wrote: "I think I'll finish this draft of DR WHO (New season 6 episode 3) tonight. A day ahead of schedule. Heavy lifting, but it's faster & better! (sic)"

The scribe previously confirmed to BBC News that his instalment had the working title 'The House Of Nothing'.

It is believed that the episode will be filmed in August.

The next series of Doctor Who - the sixth since the programme's 2005 revival - is expected to air in early 2011 on BBC One.

I'm in two minds about Neil Gaman's episode, I love his writing but I hope that he doesn't make it too fairytale like for the show.

I say, that's a rather good idea. Mostly because I've been out of work ever since he's left the telly. Now, I'm feeling a bit stuffy today, someone be kind and fetch me the Draino.

Some dr who news (:

Neil Gaiman has revealed that his upcoming Doctor Who episode has changed dramatically since he wrote the first draft.

Writing on his Twitter feed, the author discussed the instalment's rumoured working title 'The House of Nothing'.

"[The episode] was only called 'The House of Nothing' for about 20 mins in Feb 2009, when it still had a house in it. & some nothing. (sic)" he said.

and looks like the movie rumours were fake after all;

The BBC has denied reports that a big-budget Hollywood film version of Doctor Who is being developed.

Rumours previously surfaced online that a movie adaptation of the show was being written by former showrunner Russell T. Davies, with Johnny Depp linked to the role of the Doctor.

However, according to io9, the BBC has now confirmed that there are "no plans" for a film and that reports to the contrary were "pure speculation".

The movie news came amid rumours that Matt Smith, current star of the television version, is to be dropped from the show.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One for a special episode this Christmas.

Katherine Jenkins is going to be in the new episode and filming has already begun on the new episodes according to BBC news.

Here's the latest on the special;

The Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond
BBC
The BBC has teased viewers about the plot of Steven Moffat's upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.

Controller of drama commissioning Ben Stephenson revealed that the episode, which guest stars Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins, will be based on Charles Dickens's 1843 novel A Christmas Carol.

Stephenson said: "Matt Smith and Karen Gillan captivated audiences in their debut series and Doctor Who's clever twist on the much loved A Christmas Carol will thrill BBC One viewers this year with special guest stars Sir Michael Gambon and singing sensation Katherine Jenkins joining Amy and the Doctor for an unforgettable present!"

Dickens appeared as a character in the Series One episode 'The Unquiet Dead' in 2005, with Simon Callow playing the Victorian author.

Writer and executive producer Steven Moffat also revealed that the episode will include a "honeymoon" and be like "all your favourite Christmas movies at once".

Speaking on her first day on set, Jenkins said: "I'm over the moon to be involved in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

"I can't quite believe it as it's a part of the family tradition at the Jenkins household. I heard the news that I got the role on my 30th birthday and it was the best birthday present ever!"

Filming will continue until August. It has been suggested that the working title for the episode is 'Father Who?'.

I'm more excited about Michael Gambon appearing. He's an amazing actor!

I like the idea of a 'classic' Christmas episode, which is based on a proper Christmas story. And I'm a huge Dickens fan, so I'm looking forward to this episode!
