The true test 5 cheat + every possible question

Postby random_lostie_01 on Wed Sep 17, 2008 8:19 pm

I'm not spoilering anything, because I will be posting code and such, so take the title as warning: if you don't want to know the test 5 cheat don't read this! :)

Also, apologies if I am late posting this, I am going off what I saw on Dark's blog a few minutes ago.

On this test the only question that matters is question 7, and if you answer it in the correct WAY you get a 100.

So what is the correct way?

Someone already posted on Dark's blog this chunk of code:

Code: Select all
        private function buttonPress(param1:Event)
        {
            m_gameArea.removeEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, enter);
            if (bsanswer)
            {
                bsanswer = bsanswer + param1.currentTarget.name;
            }
            else
            {
                bsanswer = param1.currentTarget.name;
            }// end else if
            if (bsanswer == this["a" + qNum])
            {
                m_gameArea.skipButton.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextQuestion);
                answerBox.type = TextFieldType.DYNAMIC;
                score = 100;
                blackSwanned = true;
                puzzleComplete();
            }
            else
            {
                m_gameArea.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, enter);
            }// end else if
            return;
        }// end function

But they didn't have the purpose of the code correct. This function gets called anytime you press one of three buttons: button0, button1, or button2. These 3 buttons only exist on question 7, and they cover up each of the 3 numbers in the pattern you are supposed to solve.

This function says the first time you click a button, store the name of that button. The second time you click a button add that button's name to the already stored button's name. Each time it adds a button's name to the list it checks to see if this aggregate of names (bsanswer) is the solution to the puzzle. If it is you end the test at question 7 and get 100%.

The buttons names are as follows:
button0: 1
button1: 2
button2: 3

So if I click button2 first the bsanswer variable gets set to 3. If I then click button0 bsanswer is now 31. If you "click out" the answer to the puzzle you get instant 100% credit courtesy of Black Swan.

Here's an example:

What is the next number in the sequence?
11, 21, 1211, ______

The answer is 111221. So if you get this question you click button0, button0, button0, button1, button1, button0 (1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 1). BAM! There's your 100% regardless how you did on the previous 6 questions.

Now the title up there also says every possible question and answer so here goes. There are *not* infinite questions possible, there are in fact only 264. The first 3 questions are pulled from a pool of 135. The second set of three are pulled from a pool of 65. Question 7 is pulled from a pool of 8, and the last 3 are pulled from a pool of 56.

Sorry for the formatting, I pasted it from Excel so it's not pretty. Should paste back into any spreadsheet program easily, tho!

Questions 1, 2, and 3 pull from this pool of 135 "easy" questions:

If the right number is 31131211 then you click the corresponding buttons, so yeah 20020100, but you can't type it you have to actually click the sequence. That one is the solution to 31, 1311, 11321 so to cheat it you'd do this:

Click 11321
Click 31
Click 31
Click 11321
Click 31
Click 1311
Click 31
Click 31

Hope that's clear-er :)

I have waaaaaaay too much free time at work :lol:

I already told my boss that every Wednesday I am going to be fairly nonproductive because I have puzzles to hack. He's a Lost fan, too so he is cool with it :thumbsup:

Brilliant, you are a genius and I salute you!!! :w00t:

I however am a doofus, I was double clicking on each number, not realising I only had to single click with my pen and tablet. Luckily with a score of 100% i can now hide my stupidity from the dharma for a little bit longer! :D

Okay to *try* to explain it a little more

The only question that matters is 7. You only get this answer "right" if you click it, not type it in. You actually click the numbers in the sequence.

11,21,1211, Answer: 111221------------ You would click in this order (11, 11, 11, 21, 21, 11)
12,1112,3112, Answer: 132112------------ You would click in this order (12, 3112, 1112, 12, 12, 1112)
13,1113,3113, Answer: 132113 ------------ You would click in this order (13, 3113, 1113, 13, 13, 3113)
21,1211,111221, Answer: 312211 ------------ You would click in this order (111221, 21, 1211, 1211, 21, 21)
23,1213,11121113, Answer: 31123113 ---- You would click (11121113, 23, 23, 1213, 11121113,23,23,11121113)
31,1311,111321, Answer: 31131211 ------ You would click in this order (111321, 31, 31, 11321, 21, 1311, 31, 31)
32,1312,11131112, Answer: 31133112 --- You would click (11131112, 32, 31, 11131112, 11131112, 32, 32, 1312)
33,23,1213, Answer: 11121113 ------------ You would click in this order (33, 33, 33, 23, 33, 33, 33, 1213)

Probably some mistakes there, just let me know lol

Well, I was kind of hoping that, although we got assigned to our groups after our first test, that the groupings are still random and not really related to what we get in the tests.
I am still hoping that our actual results only contribute to the final assignation\ station\job description....(crosses fingers :D )

(sorry, that was off topic, wasn't it?)
