A universe inside every black hole ?

A Polish cosmologist has determined that an entire universe could exist within every black hole in the cosmos.

The theory went as far as to suggest that if this were true then its possible our own universe is also inside a black hole and that the massive black holes at the centre of galaxies could be bridges to different universes.

Using an adaptation of Einstein's general theory of relativity, Nikodem Poplawski, of Indiana University, Bloomington, analysed the theoretical motion of particles entering a black hole.

It is mind boggling to think that we could exist in a black hole we know nothing of our own planet it is believable to me that we may never know our true place among the cosmos in my lifetime. Thanks Dark.

Just because one nutjob scientist says this may be so, it definitely does not make it so....or even close to being so. Sounds like something out of science fiction to me.

You didn't watch the Discovery show on Black Holes a few months ago. It actually makes the theories perfectly possible we are living in one.

Perhaps I didn't see that specific show, but I regularly watch those types of documentaries on Discovery Science, History, etc. I hear those scientists say that all kinds of things are "theoretically possible"...i.e. time travel, multiple universes, etc.. Just because those guys say that they are "theoretically possible", it doesn't make them so. I'm just saying that I personally do not believe it to be true....but then again, I'm no scientist.

Anything is "possible" if you cannot absolutely disprove it, isn't it?

The big difference here is between possibility and probability.
Yes, you can look at it like all things are possible... but certain things are not probable.

When a scientist proposes an outlandish theory on how time-travel or something exists, they provide theoretical scientific evidence that suggests that it could probably work or exist, but since we don't have the technology yet to test it, the theory remains just that: a theory.

Now if I, an average moron, came along and said "there is an invisible alien living in my attic" with absolutely no evidence, is it possible? Yeah, sure. But is it probable? No.

You apparently didn't watch all of the Discovery shows because you mentioned possibility of Time Travel. There is a whole Stephan Hawking episode on that. I didn't say any of these theories are set in stone possible, but you can't call them a "nutjob scientist".

I NEVER said that Stephen Hawking was a nut job scientist. When I made that comment, I was actually referring to the Polish cosmologist that proposed the theory that we're talking about in this thread. I admit that I went a little over the top by calling him a nut job. I was just trying to relay the point that any of these scientists can come up with a theory that no one can absolutely disprove and call it a "possibility". It's just like Finli said....there's a huge difference between something that is possible and something that is probable.
