sides from Jenrin @ TWoP
Chris -- He's the father of a micropreemie and also a resident in Cleveland. His girlfriend Annie is also a Resident in the Seattle area (I assume) and they've been making it work long-distance for the past four years. The baby is tiny (24 weeks old) and described at 16.6 ounces in one scene and 14 ounces in a later one. Chris knows all of the facts and rattles them off, including the fact that his son only has a 12% of survival. The baby needs an operation and the doctor (who is supposedly also a resident) explains that this is what it is like with a micropreemie, one emergency after another. Repeatedly, Chris doesn't think they should keep trying to save their son, while Annie disagrees. The baby survives the surgery but struggles to breathe and Annie offers Chris an out, telling him that they spend so much time trying to be together they never stopped to ask if they should be. He takes this out and tries to explain himself to the doctor that he'd stay, but he's got people working doubles covering his shifts in Cleveland. He gets no sympathy from the doctor.
Devin -- (37) He was visiting his dry cleaners' when the steamer exploded. He's got a bad shoulder and shrapnel in his chest. He keeps asking about Angie, the young woman who works at the dry cleaners and was also in the explosion. He's got a huge crush on her and thinks she flirts with him. He refuses to blame her for the accident and sends her a coffee. The doctor working on him eventually explains that Angie doesn't even know who he is and that he's making up this relationship which is absurd and ridiculous and makes him look a fool. He's still oblivious.
Angie -- She's 24, is burned, is worried that she melted her face off and doesn't even know who Devin is. The doctor who brings her the coffee from Devin takes it back before she can drink it.
Gary -- He's the administrator of what's described as a rehab facility and two people are taking a tour.
